As the novel corona virus (COVID-19) begins to have an increased impact on our communities, the Freeman staff feel it is important to connect directly with you to share about the steps we are taking across the district to help keep our students, staff, and guests safe and healthy.
Our hearts go out to all of those who have been affected. The health and safety of our students, staff and guests is always our top priority and this is a rapidly-evolving situation that we will continue to monitor. The schools are cleaned and sanitized daily and we have increased the extent of those cleanings, in addition to increased custodial time, resources such as hand sanitizer stations are available in multiple areas around the buildings. We’re also ensuring our students, staff and guests have the information they need to stay healthy or stay home if they aren’t feeling well. All of our practices and decisions are informed by guidance from The Spokane Regional Health District, along with guidance from our local ESD and OSPI.
At this time, The Spokane Regional Health District is advocating that, for those students sent home with fever and respiratory symptoms, that the return to school criteria needs to be being fever free for 72 hours. If the person is a positive, then it is 72 hours post fever or 7 days after onset, whichever is greater. Close contact to positive cases are still excluded for the 14 days.
As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
