Update Regarding Coronavirus—Change to School Conferences

Freeman Families:

Our school district is establishing a preventative approach to minimize the potential for spreading

illness. While no cases of coronavirus have been identified within the Freeman School District, there are growing concerns in the state. Part of our district approach is to identify areas where we may limit social contact and create social distancing, while continuing to deliver quality P-12 instruction and meet the service needs of our district.

As a result, we are changing our upcoming Parent-teacher Conferences to telephone or virtual appointments. We will follow the same format and instructions as last fall, with the exception that the conferences are not in person.

As coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to impact communities, the district leadership team remains apprised of recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), the Governor’s office, Spokane Regional Health District, Educational Service District (ESD 101) and Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). We continue to work together toward a coordinated response.

As a reminder, students and employees experiencing fever and respiratory symptoms should not return to school until they are free from fever for 72 hours. In the event a student or employee tests positive, we ask that they remain home for 72 hours post-fever, or seven days after onset, whichever is greater. Those with close contact to positive cases are to remain away from school 14 days.

The health and safety of our students, staff and guests are our top priority, and we will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation. As shared previously, we have enhanced cleaning and sanitation efforts in our buildings. For the time being, staffing of business operations and teaching functions continue as usual. If changes are planned, families will be informed.

As always, contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Sincerely,

Freeman Administration Team
