VOTE IN THE FEBRUARY 11 ELECTION
Freeman School District is asking the community to consider the School Safety, Security, and Technology Levy in the February 2025 election. This is a two-year levy for 2026 and 2027.
SAFETY AND SECURITY UPDATES including replacing security cameras and updating door access controls.
PARKING LOT AND TRAFFIC FLOW IMPROVEMENTS like regrading and repaving parking lots, ADA access to Freeman Elementary and analyzing traffic flow.
TECHNOLOGY AND CHROMEBOOK REPLACEMENT to provide students with the technology infrastructure and devices to support their education.
WE LISTENED TO YOUR FEEDBACK
We heard the community ask for a scaled back project list with a lower price. Many of our buildings are still in need of updates, so this levy would fund only our most immediate needs.
COST OF THE 2025 SCHOOL SAFETY, SECURITY, AND TECHNOLOGY LEVY
The 2025 levy is estimated to cost $1.20 per $1,000 of assessed property value which is lower than the previous levy that expired in 2024. For a house with an assessed value of $480,000 this amounts to $48 per month. As the district tax base grows (new home construction), the actual tax rate you pay is reduced.
THE STATE PROVIDES MINIMAL CONSTRUCTION FUNDING
The district plans and completes safety, security, and technology improvements across our schools each year with levy funding. Levies are approved by voters and stay in Freeman to support our kids. Please check back in the future for more specifics on the projects that are scheduled for updates. Levies provide a set amount of funding each year for their duration, our levy is for two years. The district does not receive more money if property values go up or if more homes are built. In fact, as our community grows, the tax rate paid per property owner, could decrease.
