Mrs. Ashley Bendele

Hello,

My name is Ashley Bendele, and I teach 8th Grade Math, Advanced 7th Grade Math, and Algebra.  This is my second year at Freeman Middle School, but I have been teaching for 16 years.  I began my career in Las Vegas, NV, where I am originally from.  I taught 7th and 8th Grade Advanced Math at Sig Rogich Middle School for six years before moving to Spokane in 2011.  Then, I taught 7th Grade Math and Advanced 6th Grade Math at River City Middle School in Post Falls for 9 years.  FMS is my home now, and I look forward to spending many more years teaching in this community.

As mentioned before, I grew up in Las Vegas, NV.  I went to the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated with a BA in secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics.  Go Wolfpack!  I came back home to Las Vegas to start my career and my family.  I married my high school sweetheart during my first year of teaching.  We have 3 children between the ages of 11-14.  They do not attend Freeman currently, but they may in future years!  We are an active family.  During the school year, we travel for baseball and softball tournaments in between the various school sports all three of my kids participate in.  During our free time, we LOVE to be at Lake Roosevelt on our boat fishing, tubing, wakeboarding, and just cruising around.

In 2017, I earned my Masters of Curriculum with an emphasis in mathematical instruction.  I loved being on the other side of the classroom again and learning many new instructional practices to help my students of all levels.  My teaching philosophy is every student can be successful in math with the right amount of effort, self-advocacy, and perseverance.  I encourage and train my students to ask questions, work hard, and redo work when they don't do their best.  Sometimes the best learning comes after making a mistake!

Once again, I am so happy to be teaching at Freeman Middle School!  I knew right away that this was a special place where teachers and staff want to stay until they retire.  That is definitely my goal!  Go Scotties!
