 A little bit about me….

This is my 17th year of teacher.  I grew up in Spokane Valley and graduated from University High School where I played soccer all the way through.  I then went to SFCC to earn my AA Degree and finished up with my Degree in Education at Eastern Washington University, Go Eagles!    From a young age I found special joy in helping teach children.  This led to me becoming a teacher.

I started my career in Central Valley.  I was hired to teach 5th grade at Ponderosa Elementary.  Ponderosa became my home and family for many years.

I married my husband JJ  in 2003 and shortly after we built a home in the Freeman area.  We immediately fell in love with the beauty of the area.  We now have 3 children, Avery, Nora, and Parker.  As they began school at Freeman Elementary, I continued to teach at Ponderosa Elementary.  I found myself torn between Freeman and CVSD, I loved my job but also loved the idea of teaching in the school my kids were in and that we lived in.  As my youngest, Parker, prepared for Kindergarten I found myself looking for an opportunity to teach at Freeman.  The stars aligned and I was hired on to teach 3rd grade at Freeman Elementary.  Third grade was a new age for me, but I was excited for a change and a challenge.  This is now my second year at Freeman and teaching 3rd grade. I love the Freeman staff and community and I love 3rd graders!

I believe that  teachers and parents are gifted with a special opportunity into a child's life and with that comes a lot of responsiblity.  Not only do I believe in educating a child in academics but more importantly helping to grow them into a positive and contributing person in our community.  The character a child develops through lessons and experiences is just as valuable to me as the academic knowledge that is being gained.
