Second Step is the core curriculum that is the program we use to teach Social-Emotional Skills. The curriculum teaches skills for resolving conflicts, working with others, forming healthy relationships, and making good decisions. All of this will lead to students being more successful emotionally, socially, and academically.

Experience-Based Social-Emotional Learning for Middle School Advisory Classrooms
Freeman Middle School and High School provide social-emotional (SEL) classroom lessons using The Core Project curriculum.
Core Lessons develop five identified SEL competencies: self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, and relationship skills. Facilitated by the advisory teacher, Core Lessons provide opportunities for students to practice skills weekly in a safe and supportive classroom environment.
